Sunshine Coast business events set the PAICE in Kiwi market

Business Events Sunshine Coast (BESC) enjoyed a very productive trip ‘across the ditch’ for this year’s Pacific Area Incentives and Conferences Expo (PAICE), held at SkyCity Convention Centre in Auckland yesterday - 14 November 2017.

Capitalising on strong interest from New Zealand, BESC attended for the eighth year accompanied by members - Beyond Experiences and Experientia Sunshine Coast. The Sofitel Noosa Pacific Resort and Novotel Twin Waters Resort were also representing the region and attended the Expo.

The trade show was attended by nearly 200 New Zealand buyers and the team received several good leads for business through to 2019. Given the New Zealand market comprises strong demand for incentive business there was a keen interest for these type of bespoke and Sunshine Coast specific group experiences.

At this year’s event, BESC launched the exciting new Business Events Assistance Program and Signature Experiences Guide to New Zealand event planners.

Visit Sunshine Coast CEO Simon Latchford said that the New Zealand market was looking good for business events on the Sunshine Coast, with a buoyant economy and consistent flights to Sunshine Coast and Brisbane airports all positive signs for 2018 and beyond.

“On the whole, New Zealand groups are looking for easy access, safe/secure destinations, warm weather and unique experiences of a high standard,” said Mr Latchford. “The Sunshine Coast can deliver on all of these components and this year we were able to also put the spotlight on our new collection of signature incentive experiences and get the word out about our new assistance program designed to incentivise corporations.”

To be facilitated by BESC in partnership with the Sunshine Coast Council, the Business Events Assistance program has been set up to attract more conferences, meetings and exhibitions to the region. Expressions of interest are now open and early submissions are recommend as high demand for the program is anticipated.

The assistance program will provide an added boost to the region following the success of BESC working in collaboration with Sunshine Coast Council to secure a string of events over the past year including DRILL 2017, The Australian Event Awards, The Australian Association of Travel Writers Convention and The Australian Cruise Association Annual Conference.

First time industry trade show attendee, Blasé Grinner, from Experientia Sunshine Coast said the expo forged important connections with the 200 plus delegates and officials.

“This was a great opportunity to build relationships with key people in the corporate sector and expose our brand in the global / New Zealand market.”
