Event promoters checklist

To assist event promoters who are holding an event on the Sunshine Coast (especially those who are not familiar with marketing and promotion), please find actions that would assist you in the promotion of your event along with a recommendation on the most suitable timing.

List your event on Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW).

As soon as the date of the event is confirmed

Become a member of Visit Sunshine Coast (VSC) to obtain support for your event including strategic advice, in-kind marketing and promotion assistance.

Minimum 6 months prior to your event

Prepare a written marketing plan (inclusive of sponsorship targets, advertising, promotions, social media and media plans) for reference and circulation to key stakeholders.

Minimum 6 months prior to the event

Determine accommodation requirements for competitors and supporters. Obtain group booking form from VSC if assistance is required or book direct on www.visitsunshinecoast.com

Minimum 3 months prior to event and earlier for large events

Take advantage of digital Sunshine Coast marketing collateral that can be sent to your database or those competitors who register to attend. This includes the Sunshine Coast Official Visitor and Event Guide which you can access here.

Minimum 3 months prior to event and earlier for large events

Provide VSC with notice of any planned media announcements/media calls to obtain their media backdrop or have someone attend to support coverage.

Minimum 7 days prior

Provide VSC with event images for use in social media.

Before and during event

Make sure you tag social posts with #visitsunshinecoast and if we love your images we will repost to our followers.
