Co-operative marketing


Visit Sunshine Coast (VSC)  is involved in a large number of marketing activities throughout the year, many of which are open to industry members. Operators are encouraged to participate in domestic marketing and sales promotion activities.

Domestic marketing opportunities

The domestic marketing opportunities available to industry through VSC are researched to ensure they increase exposure to the Sunshine Coast’s target markets. They include campaigns with wholesale partners such as Flight Centre and Helloworld, online avenues include Expedia, Wotif and Booking.com, as well as with Virgin Australia, Jetstar and Qantas. These activations can come in the form of both strong digital and print campaigns, often a mixture of both mediums. An integral opportunity is advertising in our annual Sunshine Coast Official Visitor and Event Guide, which is distributed through Visitor Information Centres locally and nationally, and used as the major piece of collateral at consumer and trade shows both in Australia and New Zealand.

International marketing

VSC participates in cooperative campaigns and promotions with partners including airlines, tour operators, wholesalers and inbound tour operators. VSC also works closely with Tourism and Events Queensland and Tourism Australia to strengthen and extend brand activity in shared markets.

Event packages

For major events, such as the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon, IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships or the Queensland Garden Expo, VSC works with the event organisers and local operators to develop holiday packages for visitors to the region.

If you are an organiser of a major event interested in this opportunity, your event needs to be listed with Australian Tourism Data Warehouse and package through Bookeasy. Please email susan.maynard@visitsunshinecoast.com who can discuss the opportunities with you.

Business Events Sunshine Coast

Business Events Sunshine Coast (BESC) is the official convention bureau for the region and a dedicated unit within Visit Sunshine Coast. BESC’s role is to promote the Sunshine Coast as a viable and attractive destination for business events which includes conferences, meetings and incentives, in order to achieve maximum social and economic benefit for the local community, residents and business.

The marketing activity undertaken by BESC to the business events ‘buyer ‘is vastly different from the marketing aimed at the leisure consumer. BESC invests heavily in the promotion of the destination at trade shows, direct marketing, client familiarisations and networking programs, trade advertising and public relations.

The markets targeted by BESC are corporations, associations and government agencies, as well as intermediaries (Professional Conference Organisers) who have capacity to hold a business event on the Sunshine Coast.
