Today’s weather to be broadcast from the Hinterland

The Today Show weather segment will return to the Sunshine Coast this weekend, with Stevie Jacobs presenting live weather crosses from Maleny (Saturday) and from Montville (Sunday).

The weather crew is being brought to the Sunshine Coast by Visit Sunshine Coast (VSC) and Hinterland Tourism (HT) - an initiative of their Sub Regional partnership. The promotion aims to highlight the diversity of attractions in the Hinterland including rich nature, fresh local food, weddings, arts and culture.

Launched earlier this year, the weather crosses will be broadcast live from the new $4.7 million Rainforest Discovery Centre at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve highlighting the Glass House Mountains, rainforest walks, local producers, accommodation and a cooking school experience.

On the Sunday the weather crosses will be held from Montville’s Main Street highlighting a village atmosphere with the local arts and culture scene, fresh local food and the popularity of weddings from the Chapel.

Visit Sunshine Coast CEO, Simon Latchford, said it was fantastic to have Channel 9’s Today Show putting a national spotlight on both the Hinterland and wider destination of the Sunshine Coast.

“There’s a special magic about the Sunshine Coast Hinterland that casts a spell over you when you visit. It’s an exceptionally pretty spot to visit and this is a great opportunity to provide national coverage for a sub-region of the Coast that demonstrates our overall attractiveness and diversity of attractions to visitors,” said Latchford.

“We urge everyone to come down on either day and support the crosses,” added Mr Latchford.

Mr Latchford thanked Hinterland Tourism, participating tourism operators, and the local Chambers of Commerce for their tremendous backing in supporting the weekend Today Show weather crosses.

The crosses on both days will be between 6am and 9.30am (Qld time). The forecast for Saturday is sunny and 28 degrees and Sunday is set to be partly cloudy and 29 degrees.
