The Curated Plate celebrates produce

Dig the surface of the volcanic soils of the Sunshine Coast and you discover ‘modern gold’. The incredible produce we grow on the Sunshine Coast will be dished up on a platter this week as we welcome a new food festival with a massive difference: The Curated Plate.

The inaugural event will be held from 5-18 August with a smorgasbord of food-focused dining experiences spanned across the region.

What sets the event apart is rather than being held in a single location, the whole of the Sunshine Coast will be the venue for the series of pop-up foodie events.

The delicious line-up will have something for everyone, while shining the spotlight on our region’s produce and celebrating the relationship between chef and producer.

The program will include a three-day Food Fair at Black Swan Park next weekend from 9-11 August, six local restaurant collaborations forming ‘The Culinary Collective’ and eight bucket list ‘feature’ events including some of Australia’s and the world’s best chefs.

These will be complemented by the ‘Destination Series’: an impressive line-up of activity-led local experiences hosted by our very own Sunshine Coast businesses.

Think a jet-ski adventure on Pumicestone Passage followed by a seafood lunch, camel milk and canapes at QCamel farm and grazing tables on private orchards overlooking the Glass House Mountains.

Sunshine Coast produce will be front of centre of each dish, showcasing everything from our world-class seafood and Hinterland dairy to our thriving craft beer scene and coffee culture.

In fact, more than 60 local producers will be involved throughout the festival, with many attending events to meet with foodies and share their stories.

According to Tourism Australia, food and wine is in the top five most important factors for high value travellers when choosing a holiday destination.

The Curated Plate will be a chance for us to share the food offerings we have right here on the Sunshine Coast, attracting new visitors to the region and giving return holidaymakers something new to try.

For locals, it’s a chance to discover the ingredients grown right here in our backyard and support our local producers, brewers and chefs.

The Curated Plate is not just a festival, it’s a chance for us to share what sets the Sunshine Coast apart as a food destination.
