The Sunshine Coast is the perfect place for a family holiday. With plenty of theme parks and attractions to build lasting memories, there’s something for the whole family to enjoy. 

1.Wildlife experiences

Kids love nothing more than seeing their favourite animals and Australia Zoo certainly delivers. The zoo has roving animals for the kids to get their pictures taken with, free wildlife shows to educate them on wildlife conservation, and a number of animal encounters to make dreams come true. But if the kids love monkeying around, why not take them to WILDLIFE HQ to meet some real primates! Offering several animal encounters with tamarins and marmosets, WILDLIFE HQ is an intimate zoo that is perfect for the little ones who often get tired feet!

2.Big Kart Track

Action, action, action! Is what you can expect at the Big Kart Track in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The track is the largest commercial track in Australia and is suitable for all weather conditions. Come rain or sunshine you’ll be zooming around this thrilling course and unleashing all your adrenaline!

3.Coastal cruises

Nothing says family holiday like ‘Coastal Cruise’ and boy, does the Sunshine Coast have a variety to suit all your occasions and budgets. From sunset cruises with Caloundra Cruises, wildlife spotting tours with Cruise Maroochy, or even fishing cruises with Sunshine Coast Afloat, there’ll be something to entertain the kids and adults while cruising along the rivers and oceans of the Sunshine Coast.

4.Aussie World

Fun’s their thing at Aussie World and a day out with the family at this ride-packed Sunshine Coast attraction will be the perfect way to kick off or wrap up a holiday. They have rides for tiny tots all the way to a 13 meter rotating ride for older thrill seekers. After expending all energy levels, the family can enjoy a lunch at the famous Pub at Aussie World which has been on the Sunshine Coast since 1989.

5.Once in a lifetime experiences

Full of nature wonders the Sunshine Coast is home to unique experiences that are rarely offered in other parts of the world. Be it exploring the Glass House Mountains with Experientia, riding horses along the shores of Rainbow Beach with Rainbow Beach Horse Rides, spotting birds in the bush with Tropical Treks or kayaking with dolphins with Epic Ocean Adventures, there’s nothing like connecting with nature and having the Sunshine Coast as your stunning backdrop.

6.Whale of a time

The Sunshine Coast is lucky enough to be visited by humpback whales as they migrate south each year. With a number of boats to take you out on the open water, you can go on a whale watching cruise with Whale One to spot these beauties in the water. Sunreef even offer a swim with the whales for those who are feeling brave.

7.Spinners Bowling and Bar

Spinners Bowling and Bar is a great short activity for the whole family. With bowling to keep the kids occupied, the adults can relax and have a drink while playing pool. It’s even decked out with plenty of arcade games to keep the younger ones occupied long after the pins have been put away.

8.Maleny Botanic Garden and Bird World

Set one 100 acres, the Maleny Botanic Garden and Bird World is a privately owned garden that extends over 16 acres. With immaculate landscaping that attracts a number of insects, birds and wildlife, you and your family can spend hours in the grounds learning about different flowers while appreciating the spectacular views of the Glass House Mountains. For a small additional cost, you can even visit their bird aviary, home to both native and exotic parrots and birds.

9.The Ginger Factory

The Sunshine Coast’s iconic Ginger Factory is a fantastic outing with the kids. They have a wonderful live bee show to teach you how honey is made, a beautiful rainforest to explore plus a café and gift store. Entry into the factory is free, though you will have to pay a small fee for the tours and boat ride.

10. Sea Life Sunshine Coast

Take the kids to one of the most interesting attractions on the Sunshine Coast, Sea Life. Explore deep sea wonders, watch an interactive seal show, and learn about thousands of sea species while you make your way through the aquarium. With a tidal touch pool and ocean tunnel walkthrough with giant manta rays cruising above you, it’s a must-do for your holiday bucket list!
