Bli Bli visitor guide

01 Dec 2017

The former home of the Sunshine Coast sugar cane industry is now known for its castle on the hill.

With the friendly salt-of-the-earth locals, riverside picnic, golf course and fishing spots you’ll find the time slipping away slowly as you pull in yet another fish for dinner. Hop in a tinny (that’s Australian for boat!) and explore the Maroochy River, or pile the kids in the car to brave the cable ski park. And no visit to Bli Bli is complete without an exploration of Sunshine Castle, with its medieval battlements and scary dungeon.

With the gentle, country town pace that’s a world away yet still in close proximity to the action of Maroochydore and country centre of Nambour, Bli Bli offers enough peace, recreation, entertainment and excitement to make everyone smile.

If you’re looking for things to see and do in Bli Bli, it’s impossible to miss Sunshine Castle, as it overlooks the entire town. Your kids will spend hours exploring the tunnels, balconies, battlements, a doll museum, and even a dungeon, where the kids can pretend to be knights from the round table.

Golfing enthusiasts will love the playing on the newest Sunshine Coast greens at Maroochy River Golf Club while the more adventurous will revel in the thrilling cable ski park at Bli Bli Watersports.

If you’re curious about the local wildlife, you can trip down the river for a tour, or visit the wheelchair-friendly Bli Bli Wetlands Sanctuary, and learn about the amazing birdlife and vital role of the marshland ecosystem in the local environment. And with the many bike paths and grassy pet-friendly parklands, you’ll find there’s plenty of room to roam in Bli Bli.

Accommodation in Bli Bli includes a beautiful bed and breakfast house as well as self-contained rental houses perfect for large groups and families.

For events in Bli Bli, Sunshine Castle hold opera concerts several times a year, while green thumbs won’t want to miss the Queensland Garden Expo, held in nearby Nambour in July, attracting around 30,000 garden lovers. And being just minutes away from the centre of Maroochydore, you’ll have access to all the Sunshine Coast’s major events.
