Dicky Beach visitor guide

06 Dec 2017

Dicky Beach is a place you can lose yourself finding all manner of shells or perhaps treasures lost and forgotten.

The S.S. Dicky was forced aground in 1893 during heavy seas, giving the area its name. Boasting a charming foreshore, Dicky Beach is a place you can lose yourself finding all manner of shells or perhaps treasures lost and forgotten. Between surfing or swimming in the waves and easy hours in the skatepark and at the playground, the kids will have plenty to do while you relax in the endless sunshine.

With it’s rock hopping shoreline and mini-pools, pet-friendly walkways and park areas, as well as the popular skatepark, there’s room for all ages to find their playground at Dicky Beach. Why not learn to hang ten with Silky Surf School or take to the calm waters of Currimundi Lake nearby.

Accommodation at Dicky Beach ranges from the communal bike-mad activity of the beachfront caravan park to luxury accommodation at Portobello by the Sea located opposite the sun-drenched white sand beaches.

The Surf Life Saving Club at the main beach often has music at night, and being just a few minute’s drive away from central Caloundra means you’re never far from the cinemas, Events Centre or a wide range of restaurants.
