Winner, winner, Sunshine Coast dinner

By Cory Gale

Well, if it wasn’t official it is now. The Sunshine Coast is one of Australia’s hottest foodie destinations. Two (yes, two!) of the region’s leading restaurants have just been named in TripAdvisor’s Top 10 Restaurants in the land.

Spice Bar, Mooloolaba

From 'small plate' stars such as beef tataki and tofu wontons to five, seven and 10-course banquets, Spice Bar Restaurant shines from start to finish. This Mooloolaba favourite wins points for its magnificent oceanfront setting and exceptional array of modern Asian fusion dishes - celebrated on the banquet option. A deliciously deserving number seven! Not surprising, Mooloolaba Beach also rates in your Top 10 Beaches in Australia.

The Spirit House and Cooking School, Yandina

Set in tropical gardens nestled around a tranquil pond, humming softly with the sounds of nature, the Spirit House is a delight for all senses. You’d be forgiven for thinking you’d spent six hours on a plane and then journeyed through rice fields to get here. But no, this is just over an hour up the road from Brisbane. No passport required. Contemporary Asian food, exceptionally friendly staff and enthusiastic chefs have made it a destination for lovers of all things Asian. At number six on the list, we’d also recommend booking about that many weeks in advance if you want to impress on a Friday or Saturday night! The Spirit House is one of the hottest (and most tantalisting!) tables in town.

Good hats!

In July 2016 the Good Food Guide also tipped its hat to the Sunshine Coast on seven occasions. Both Wasabi (Noosa) and The Long Apron (Montville) were awarded Two Hats – offering contrasting styles of culinary WOW factor from coast to hinterland. Locale (Noosa), Ricky’s River Bar and Restaurant (Noosa), The Tamarind (Maleny), The Spirit House (Yandina) and Noosa Waterfront Restaurant (Noosaville) all scored One Hat. There’s surely no shortage of spectacular views in that list!

For the ultimate in flavour explorations, pop these into your food trail between exploring the Sunshine Coast’s beach menu and simply awesome natural backdrops. Salivating yet?
