The information we may collect
As part of our function, VSC facilitates the booking of travel and holidays, provides opportunities for tourism operators to market and promote their services, and provides a number of other travel-related services in the pursuit of providing the best experience for our customer. VSC also collects personal information for specific market research and to determine if there are any demographic trends in the way consumers use travel information and book travel products.
The types of personal information we may collect include:
• Identifying information such as name, date of birth and employment details;
• Contact information such as home and business addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses and email addresses;
• Government-issued identifiers including ACNs and ABNs;
• Financial information, such as credit card details and bank account details;
• Biometric information and templates, such as voice recognition information;
• Information about activities, including leisure and other lifestyle interests; and
• Information about involvement in other programs you participate in or memberships you may have;

We may collect your personal information in order to send you our free e-Newsletters containing travel, holiday information and special offers and information relating to tourism development. Any personal information that you provide to us for the purposes of receiving e-Newsletters can be deleted at any time by unsubscribing from the e-Newsletter using the ‘unsubscribe’ link in the newsletter or by contacting us via email at email@example.com.
You generally have the right not to identify yourself when dealing with us where it is lawful and practicable for us to allow it. However, on some occasions we may not be able to do this.

VSC uses Google advertising programs to improve the online experience, including the display of relevant ads on external websites. The use of these programs improves the efficiency of navigation throughout our website and assists us to provide services to you in the most convenient and prompt manner. Visit Sunshine Coast displays User Generated Content (UGC) from social media platforms including ; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google+ and YouTube on our website and other digital platforms. VSC does not claim to have ownership to any of the images, videos or content posted through these channels. However, by posting to the VSC official channels or tagging @visitsunshinecoast, @sunshinecoastoz or @sunshinecoastQLD or #visitsunshinecoast you hereby grant VSC a non-exclusive, royalty free, worldwide, revocable, non-transferable , perpetual licence to use, modify, delete from, add to, publicly display and/ or reproduce your content without limitation in any online media formats and through any social media channels, pages or accounts.
On the VSC social media channels we will credit your name and / or business name but due to technical reasons, some of the UGC shared on the website may not be credited. You can revoke this licence at any time buy contacting us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Furthermore, due to technical reasons, some of the UGC shared on the website is not always reviewed by VSC before displaying on the site and does not necessarily reflect the views of VSC. Visit Sunshine Coast (VSC) acts as the non-exclusive agent for the supply of goods and/or services by its members (accommodation, tour, attraction or vehicle hire) . By making your booking you acknowledge and agree that VSC is acting as the agent for the supplier of the goods or services and that any dispute which you may have in relation to that booking shall be directed to the supplier and not to the Association.
VSC warrants that it is authorised to make bookings and to receive moneys and other deposits on behalf of its members. It remains the responsibility of every person making a booking through VSC to verify for himself or herself the accuracy of the information provided by VSC on behalf of its members.
If you make a booking of accommodation on our website you are irrevocably declaring that:
• you are 18 years of age;
• you are the authorised holder (or acting lawfully with the true consent of the authorised holder) of the credit card used to make payment of the booking; and
• you have read these terms and conditions and voluntarily agree to be bound by them.
The payment process for a booking will differ depending on whether the relevant accommodation, tour, attraction or vehicle hire provider is a “Book Now” Operator or “On request” Operator. Providers are distinguished in this manner dependent upon the accuracy of their availability information.
Dealing with a ‘“Book Now’”Operator
As a “Book Now” Operator guarantees their room availability information is up to date, the amount debited will be the amount shown on our “Confirm and Pay Now” screen immediately prior to your executing payment by engaging the “Pay Now” button.
Dealing with an ‘“On Request” Operator
As an “On Request” Operator cannot guarantee the accuracy of their availability information, the payment process occurs in the following manner:
• you must engage the “Request Booking” button on our “Confirm Booking Request” screen;
• immediately upon execution of the booking request, an email is sent to the provider who is to respond within 24 hours confirming or declining the request;
• if the room is available, you will be provided with a hyperlink to a secure webpage where you must follow the instructions in order to complete payment;
• the amount to be debited to your credit card will be the amount shown on the webpage immediately prior to execution of the payment button on that page;
• Depending upon the currency of the booking, the credit card's money currency and the country in which the credit card was issued, the credit card provider may impose fees in accordance with your arrangements with that credit card provider;
• Finalisation of your booking cannot occur unless you agree to be bound by the terms of the respective accommodation provider's cancellation policy. You must accept the relevant provider's cancellation policy by clicking on the check box found on the applicable booking confirmation screen.
Change/Cancellation of Booking
VSC provides its booking service as a service to its members, but cancellations of confirmed bookings (where payment has been made) will attract a $22 cancellation fee. In addition to this, the provider may also charge a fee and accordingly you should check the cancellation policy available at the applicable booking confirmation page.
If you wish to change or cancel your accommodation, tour, attraction or vehicle hire booking, you must contact the provider directly in the first instance. Contact details will be shown on the booking confirmation. In the event that you are unable to reach the accommodation/tour provider you may contact Visit Sunshine Coast during working hours (Monday to Friday 8:30 am - 5 pm) by telephone on 1300 847 481 or +61 07 5458 8800 or by email to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please note that there is no guarantee that changes or cancellations will be permitted as providers may or may not allow changes or cancellations to bookings on a discretionary basis.
VSC reserves the right to offer alternative services or facilities of a similar standard to those the subject of any cancelled booking. Cancellation fees will be confirmed with the operator at the time of booking. VSC shall not be responsible to any person for double bookings or over bookings for any facilities or services booked through VSC.
Visit Sunshine Coast acts as a booking agent for its members. As such it will accept no liability for any losses, damages, claims or expenses (whatsoever and irrespective of whether direct, indirect, consequential) arising from the use of or connected with our booking service or any products or services purchased through that service by us, our employees or agents. We make no warranty or representation as to the fitness or suitability of any product or service booked through us. We sell accommodation, tours and vehicle hire from inventory supplied by each tourism business. All efforts are made to ensure every operator is adequately insured, but it rests with the client to satisfy themselves that such insurances are in place.
