Marcoola visitor guide

06 Dec 2017

Step off a plane and into a beach holiday with uncrowded beaches and quiet surrounds, giving you and your family time to rest and enjoy the sand and the sun in peace.

Marcoola is located just 10 minutes from the Sunshine Coast Airport. Have a barbecue or picnic under the shade of a native Pandanus tree, take a dip at the patrolled beach, or share a stroll with your sweetheart on the long walking path, before heading back to your beachside holiday apartment overlooking the water. The foodies will love the fresh seafood shops and restaurants dotted around the Marcoola area, many of which are pet-friendly as well.

For things to do in Marcoola you can try surfing, fishing, kayaking and bird watching or cycling on the many paths and grassy spots. In winter, it’s a well-known spot to watch the humpback whales migrate, and watching turtles hatching at night is a special experience the kids will not forget.  Nearby, you can climb up Mount Coolum, a grand volcanic dome that presides over the landscape.

Marcoola accommodation can be found at resorts, family apartments, luxury penthouses or private holiday houses. Most are situated a few minute’s walk to the beach for a morning swim.
