Mount Cooroora

Mount Cooroora is located in the town of Pomona in the Noosa Hinterland and is home to the annual "King Of The Mountain Race" held on the last Sunday of July each year.

Mt Cooroora sits in the middle of the hinterland town of Pomona soaring to an impressive 439 metres. The hike to the summit is challenging, but rewards climbers with a sweeping 360 degree view, including the coastal lakes and dunes of Cooloola Recreation Area. There are a number of other walking trails suited to various fitness levels including shared trails at the base of the mountain for walkers, horse riders and mountain bike riders. Be prepared, especially in hot weather with a hat, water and sunscreen, and allow adequate time to complete the walk. Suitable, sturdy footwear is recommended as the track has a loose surface and is often slippery.
