Chase an endless summer on the Sunshine Coast

11 Dec 2018

With over 100 kilometres of incredible coastline, your endless summer on the Sunshine Coast is waiting.

Temperatures on the Sunshine Coast are generally warm year-round, so it is the perfect spot to spend time out in nature.

Beaches

A name like Sunshine Coast conjures images of surf, sand and sun and you’ll find all that in spades.

From King’s Beach in Caloundra all the way up to Noosa Main Beach, there is a beach to suit every mood. Each one with their own features and facilities.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re taking the dogs for a run, looking for a wave or just keen for a beach BBQ with your mates.

Stunning Kings Beach was voted the state’s best beach by Surf Life Saving Queensland, while Mooloolaba Beach ranked sixth and Noosa Main Beach polled ninth in TripAdvisor’s top 25 beaches in Australia.

Time in nature

With ancient volcanic peaks, whispering rainforests, awe-inspiring waterfalls and pristine waterways, the Sunshine Coast is a haven for natural wonders and outdoor adventure.

Bushwalking, climbing and nature-in-spades reign supreme when exploring the Glass House Mountains and some of the 60 national and conservation parks found on the Sunshine Coast.

Breathe in the crisp air as you wander among tall open forests or spot platypus in crystal clear creeks. Choose from Amamoor or Imbil State Forests, and Kondalilla or Mapleton National Parks, just to name a few.

If you are lucky, you may spot Queensland’s tallest tree - a 74-metre-high flooded gum Eucalyptus Grandis - in Conondale National Park.

Outdoor markets

Discover fresh local produce, homemade treats, indigenous art, funky jewellery, handmade clothing and talented buskers at markets right across the Sunshine Coast.

If you wander past the eclectic market stalls in this corner of Queensland, it won’t take you long to realise why the Sunshine Coast ranks as one of the top ‘market’ destinations in Australia.

One of the most famous markets in Australia, The Original Eumundi Markets, is truly a cultural experience. Every Wednesday and Saturday, this hinterland town comes alive with quirky stalls, delicious food carts bursting with global flavours, and entertaining street performers and that unique holiday gift to take home.

Fresh food

The Sunshine Coast has made it even easier for hungry holidaymakers to satisfy their appetites, with their own interactive food map. Pineapples, lychees and strawberries, oh my!

Using the Sunshine Coast Food Trail, you can plot your pick of hatted restaurants, fresh produce markets, farm gates and cellar doors from the region, whether you only have time for a half-day graze or a week-long smorgasbord.
