Cruise along crystal clear water on Caloundra's bike tracks

18 Oct 2018

Whether you’re an active family going on a leisurely ride, or a serious cycler warming up for your next big event, Caloundra has a track for you.

For the casual cyclist you cannot go past the Caloundra Coastal Pathway for a great way to stretch the legs with the bonus of amazing views.

Predominately off-road with only a few small side-streets to navigate, this 9km stretch from Currimundi down to Caloundra CBD is perfect for families and novice riders. Winding alongside Caloundra’s most beautiful beaches down to the famous Pumicestone Passage, you’ll pass lakes, rivers, ocean, a lighthouse and all the stunning natural beauty this coastline has to offer.

It has been designed just for walkers and riders, so the Coastal Pathway is a safe and enjoyable way to ride with your family without worrying about traffic.

Don’t forget to stop along the way for breathtaking happy snaps and then grab a coffee or a nourishing snack at one of Caloundra’s legendary local cafes like Pocket Espresso.

If adventure is your game and you’re looking to get off the beaten track, the Sugar Bag Mountain Bike Trails are calling your name!

Made up of over 12km of ridable experiences, the trail offers up loops, bridges, hills and jumps to excite and challenge.

The trails are made for both beginners and experts with a bunch of different routes with fun names like Sweet Sugar (4.8km) for intermediate to advanced riders, Honeycomb (1km) - a smooth, fast downhill which is also used as a climb, or the narrow Golden Rough – rated black for riders wanting to seriously test themselves.

The entrance to Sugar Bag Trail is well signposted, so depending on your level you can choose the appropriate path.

Given the proximity of the Sugar Bag Trail to the heart of downtown Caloundra, the pristine beaches are the perfect spot to cool off after a sweaty session on the bikes. And you’ll be spoiled for choice with plenty of options to refuel for brunch or lunch right off the beach too.
