10 Jun 2019

Dining under the stars, fireworks, musicians, operatic arias and tenors fused into a harmonious symphony of amazing locally sourced food and sensory delight. Three enchanting evenings to indulge in – Flaxton Garden’s ‘Dining under the Stars’, Maroochy RSL’s ‘Feather and Sea Soiree’, and Sunshine Castle’s ‘A Royal Feast of Opera’.

The Curated Plate Destination series presents a string of once-in-a-lifetime dining experiences that will celebrate the connection between the love of local produce, exquisite food and soulful music.

Decadent dining under the stars

The magical canopy of a glistening night sky evokes a sense of intimacy and romance. Complementing a sparkling coastal horizon gloriously spanning out to the sea, there couldn’t be a more perfect vantage point from which to dine than the iconic Flaxton Gardens on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland’s beautiful range.

Once greeted with sparkling wine, freshly shucked oysters and canapés, delight in the ambient views indulging in an evening of refinement, sophistication and grace. Local musicians serenade the vineyard that spills from the escarpment of the beautiful manicured gardens evoking a sense of serenity and breath-taking beauty as you take in the August night sky from your table under a clear marquee.

Chef Alan Thompson has created an inspired three-course gala banquet focussing on produce of the region. Each dish has a story to tell of provenance featuring the freshest of local ingredients highlighting some of our produce superstars. Premium wines are specially selected to enhance this exclusive dining experience.

As if nature’s mystical beauty wasn’t enough, fireworks illuminate the night sky alongside a decadent dessert, as a finale to a perfect evening.

Dining under the stars is always pleasing to the heart, but don’t worry, if nature interferes, the banquet hall has its own magical night sky to provide a glistening canopy rain or shine.

Culinary delights to the extraordinary sounds of The Three Tenors

Begin a stylish evening of dining entertainment in the expansive Elevation Lounge of the Maroochy RSL. Executive Chef, Gareth Collins will showcase a sensational ‘Feather & Sea Soiree’ using select seafood and poultry sourced from the region’s premium producers paired beautifully with the finest wines.

Allow yourself to be mesmerised by the tranquil acoustics of an elegant string quartet while delighting in canapés and the rapturous emotions that a gentle string symphony evokes. Then meander through to the ballroom and immerse yourself further in a spellbinding operatic performance featuring ‘Tenori’ – tenors, David Kidd, Andrew Pryor and Craig Atkinson – three of the fabulous members of ‘The Ten Tenors’, while enjoying a delicious epicurean banquet.

Finally guests will enjoy an ambrosial assiette of desserts matched with a dessert wine, while the musical epilogue unfolds. A magnificent evening to be enjoyed by all.

A ‘Knight’ of Opera and fine dining in the Sunshine Castle

Enter Bli Bli’s Sunshine Castle as twilight turns to dusk, and you are delivered into a world of medieval whimsy and unexpected pleasure. The ambient glow reflecting from the castle turrets and towers, as the castle gatekeeper heralds you in, creates an atmosphere of pageant and celebration that transforms into an incredible night of opera and fine dining.

Canapés weave amongst anticipating diners, as an aria fills the castle courtyard from the turrets above, announcing that you are about to experience something truly special.

Chef Simon Wallace draws on the Sunshine Coast’s finest local producers to create an opulent pasture-to-plate four-course feast with a medieval twist, whilst the some of the world’s most adored arias and operas are performed, challenging the incredible acoustics of the castle’s Great Hall with melody and music. Add to that the witty narration by the Underground Opera’s founder, Bruce Edwards, and you will enjoy a performance that you will not find elsewhere on the Sunshine Coast. Fireworks, flames and special effects see out this spectacular evening of musical drama.

With so many wonderful cultural dining experiences to enjoy, the relationship between producer, chef, entertainers, and ultimately, the diner, has never been more exciting!
