This amazing stretch of coast doubles as buzzing centre for events and must-see experiences, from Christmas boat parades to world renowned sporting events you can rest assured there is something for everyone. Pencil these into your social calendar. 

1. Mooloolaba Christmas Lights Canal Cruise

Mooloolaba Canals are alight, celebrating the festive season. Join Sunshine Coast Afloat on Hela-Va-Jet and see some of the most spectacular sites. Come join them on a cruise through the canals enjoying the light parade; he houses are lit up beautifully. Bring your own drinks.

Christmas time is always a special time on the Sunshine Coast. The city lights up with Christmas fever, and everyone is invited to celebrate the merry time, even our local boats. Each year the Mooloolaba Yacht Club organisers the spectacular Mooloolaba Christmas Boat Parade. This is a great interactive event for the whole family to enjoy. Sit and watch as the glittering boats float past, and join in the fun voting for the Best Dressed Boat and Best Dressed House.

Experience Mooloolaba Tri and Swim, Bike, Run, Party! Located in the heart of the Sunshine Coast, the Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival remains a standout event on the Australian Triathlon Calendar. The Olympic distance triathlon provides a course that is known and loved for it's ocean swim along with the electric buzz in the atmosphere as thousands of triathletes descend on this popular beach town. There is something for the whole family including the ASICS Mooloolaba Twilight five-kilometre run, Mooloolaba one-kilometre Ocean Swim, Mooloolaba Superkidz Triathlon and the Special Tri. The event also features the Mooloolaba ITU Triathlon World Cup, where participants will see the world's best ITU triathletes in action!

Everything you need is just steps away from the beach, including amazing surfside transition. Competitors will take in the best that Mooloolaba has to offer, starting with a swim off the surf beach, followed by a fast bike course and a two-lap run course along the Esplanade cheered on by spectators. Enjoy the experience of finishing on Mooloolaba Esplanade then wander to recovery on the beach to relax after your big day.

8. Maroochy Music and Visual Arts Festival

Maroochy Music and Visual Arts Festival (MMVAF) will be back in August 2018, celebrating contemporary music and visual arts on the Sunshine Coast. With one main stage (so no clashes) a champagne and oyster garden and larger-than-life art installations, the natural amphitheatre comes alive each year with the hottest acts and artists in Australia.

9. Nights on Ocean

On the second Friday of every month, Nights on Ocean comes to life on Maroochydore’s Ocean Street. With the street already famous for being the Sunshine Coast’s nightlife capital, Nights on Ocean builds on the precinct's restaurants and bars and amplifies the already pumping atmosphere. With food stalls to take you on a culinary tour around the world and desserts to satisfy the biggest sweet tooth craving, Nights on Ocean places you at the centre of Sunshine Coast’s nightlife.
