Things to do on the Sunshine Coast over the Easter long weekend

There’s no better place than the Sunshine Coast to spend a long weekend with the kids. With various patrolled beaches, kid friendly restaurants, and a range of activities to keep them occupied, it’ll be a memorable trip for the whole family.
 

Kenilworth Cheese, Wine and Food Festival

A scenic drive into the Sunshine Coast hinterland on 31 March leads to the Kenilworth Cheese, Wine and Food Festival. With a great ‘Cheester Egg Hunt’ for the kids and plenty of cheese and wine stalls to taste for the parents, the day also has cooking demonstrations and a ‘Great Cheese Rolling Contest’ which promises to be fun for the whole family.

Ocean Street World Festival

On 1 April Easter Sunday, Ocean Street in Maroochydore welcomes the world to it’s street and celebrates cultures from across the globe. From Japan to Jamaica, Budapest to Jamaica, Ocean Street World Festival welcomes the young, old, inquisitive and adventurous to come together in diversity. With salsa dancing and Bollywood workshops, choirs, djembe workshops, and plenty of tasty food from all over the globe, it’s a great day to become more involved with the community over the long weekend.

Easter Twilight Markets Caloundra

Over 100 stalls come together on Bulcock Beach’s waterfront to bring the Easter Twilight Markets to Caloundra. With live music creating the most beautiful atmosphere, street food available from a variety of food trucks, and fun games for the kids to partake in, spend Easter Friday with the whole family in Caloundra.

Australia Zoo egg hunt

Australia Zoo is embracing the Easter long weekend with festivities that start from 30 March through to the 2 April! The Zoo is putting on a free Good Friday breakfast with the Irwin family feeding the crocs all long weekend. A giant Easter egg hunt is on Sunday 1 April offering stacks of awesome prizes for all the kiddies that get involved. Australia Zoo will also be handing out hot cross buns and Easter eggs all long weekend, so be sure to make some time to say g’day to some animals while in the region.

Eumundi Markets

On Saturday 31 March hop along to the Eumundi Markets for an Easter Saturday unmatched by any other. Their annual Easter Treasure Hunt is free for the first 300 children and starts from 8am. There will also be an Easter bunny who’ll be wondering the markets ready to say hi and snap a photo with the family. There will also be an awesome line-up of live music including Juzzie Smile, Tribal Groove, Craig Atkins and OKA jamming out in the four zones of the market.

Kawana Shopping World 

The rumours are true - the Cadbury Easter Bunny will be at Kawana Shopping World this Easter! Handing out free chocolate eggs from Monday 26 March through to Saturday 31 March (exlucing Good Friday as the centre will be closed for the public holiday). 

Pier 33

In Mooloolaba Pier 33 will be open for full trading across the Friday to Sunday of the Easter long weekend. With live music on every day, a special fish themed dish being created for Good Friday lunch and specialised Easter dessert on offer, Pier 33 will be the perfect place to have a classy outing with the family. They are also putting on face-painting and an Easter egg hunt on Sunday 1 April for the kids!

The Surf Club Mooloolaba 

Over Easter the Surf Club Mooloolaba will be opening their all day dining bar Bayview Bar and Bites with Easter trading hours (closed Good Friday). Relax and enjoy absolute beachfront views in their exclusively located function room on level 2. With beer, champagne, cocktails and live music, it's a cracker way to kick off or finish the long weekend.
