Where to treat dad this Father’s Day

28 Aug 2019

Celebrate your dad this Sunday 1st September with something special around the Sunshine Coast.

Australia Zoo

In addition to a fabulous day full of wildlife action, dad can compete in the Australia Zoo Father's Day Challenge on a giant inflatable obstacle course! With the chance to win an OzTent RV5, this is one race dad will want to win! Maybe koala tossing is more his speed? Don’t worry, the koalas in the annual Koala Throwing Competition aren’t real but the fun and the prizes are.

Seafood Cruise

Make the most of time together with and step aboard this river cruise. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon or evening on the water with uninterrupted views and the freshest seafood imaginable aboard with Sunshine Coast Afloat. Choose between a 12pm lunch cruise or a 5pm twilight cruise and enjoy the Mooloolaba River during the day or sunset light.

Craft Beer Tour

Sunshine Coast Craft Beer Tours are running a dedicated Dad's Day Tour visiting three awesome breweries on Father’s Day on Sunday 1 September. Stopping at Moffat Beach Brewing, Your Mates Brewhouse and 10 Toes Brewery, Dad will enjoy lunch, beer samples and get a free stubby holder. BONUS for DAD: If you buy two tickets and decide to join Dad score a 4-pack of beer from the legends at Your Mates Brewing.

Big Kart Track

If dad has the need for speed, take him down to the Big Kart Track. Find who in the family is the real speed demon racing along the 1.2-kilometre long international standard racetrack at up to 70 kilometres per hour.

Scenic Flight

Send dad on a jaw-dropping scenic flight above the Sunshine Coast with Paradise Seaplanes. Taking off from the Maroochy River, fly over some of Queensland’s most stunning and varied coastline in a plane that is especially designed for observation, with more glass than a helicopter! Scenic flights range from 10 minutes to 75 minutes so there is bound to be one perfect for your dad. Just remember to bring the camera!

Sunday Lunch

Skip the homemade food prep for a ‘Big Daddy’ burger at Land & Sea Brewery. The double patty burger - featuring onion rings and waffle chips – comes with a side of live music and epic beer. As an added bonus, dad can always head next door to 'Fortune' Noosa Heads Distillery where the team will be shaking special Whiskey Sours.

If a brewery isn't dad's speed, head down to The Wharf Mooloolaba for feasts that will take him on a culinary journey. Have a taste of Asia at Rice Boi, visit the Med at Spero Greek Street or enjoy dessert in Italy at Fior Di Latte Gelateria.

TreeTop Challenge

Get dad outside his comfort zone and work up a thirst on Australia’s highest zipline and high ropes adventure at TreeTop Challenge at the Big Pineapple. The whole family will be sky-high with 100 challenges and 12 ziplines sitting in the trees at more than 25 metres above the ground.

Go Golfing

It doesn’t matter what dad’s handicap is, he will be on golfing heaven on the Sunshine Coast. The Sunshine Coast is home to a magnificent series of golf courses that include the Noosa Springs, Club Pelican Golf Course and Twin Waters courses so dad had plenty of chances to score that elusive hole-in-one. For an indoor option (or non-golfing dads) why not challenge dad to 18 holes at Holey Moley Maroochydore

Get out in nature

Maybe it is time for dad to just breathe in some fresh air? Luckily spending quality time outdoors with dad is a breeze on the Sunshine Coast. Hike the Glass House Mountains, go chasing waterfalls in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland or use some pedal power to get the best coast views along Caloundra’s bike tracks.

Go surfing

If dad prefers water to land, treat him to a surf lesson at Coolum Surf School. These professionals cater for all skill levels amd equipment including wetsuits is supplied so all you need is a towel, swimmers and a smile!
