Flame Hill Vineyard

It is of course all about freshness. If you source local product it will be fresher, resulting in less product loss due to spoilage and most importantly higher quality where you will be able to taste the local flavours.

The Sunshine Coast is leading the way with this trend, with more farm-to-table restaurants and cafes popping up throughout the coast and the hinterland.

Flame Hill Vineyard

A visit to Flame Hill Vineyard in Montville would have to be one of Australia’s ultimate paddock to plate experiences. The 300-acre estate houses a vineyard, market garden orchard and a herd of beef cattle. Renowned for its commitment to sustainable food production, foodies are spoilt for choice. Book in for a Sunday lunch on the terrace or dine in the award-winning restaurant and enjoy the best of fresh, seasonal and local produce matched with award-winning wines. Sit back, soak up the rural ambiance and be entertained by the Guinea Fowls as they wander among the trellises.

Lola’s Pantry

Courtesy of one of Brisbane’s biggest stars, ex-executive chef of Urbane, Alejandro Cancino, Lola’s Pantry in Kuluin is serving up a ‘root-to-stem’ plant-based menu that delights the tastebuds and satisfies even the most committed carnivores. Working with local producers, Alejandro has also teamed-up with Food Connect, a Brisbane based social enterprise that works with and delivers for Sunshine Coast growers. Visitors to Lola’s Pantry can also pick up vegan cheese and condiments from Alejandro’s retail food company, Fenn Foods to take home with them.

Wasabi

This little slice of foodie heaven is putting a fresh new twist on traditional Japanese cuisine. Welcome to the delightful Wasabi. Their menu is specifically designed to showcase the fresh seasonal produce that is harvested daily from their own farm at Honeysuckle Hill.  The farm was opened in 2012 to grow produce specifically for the restaurant and is used to grow traditional Japanese ingredients such as Tokyo mustard, sweet melon, red fleshed plums, mulberries, and Japanese chilli, just to name a few.

Hinterland Feijoas

Nestled away in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, this family owned Feijoas farm is one of the Sunshine Coast’s best kept secrets. Surrounded by beautiful views and rolling green hills, this is the perfect family weekend destination. You can buy your own Feijoas here and take them home with you and there’s also a retro coffee van that sells delicious sweet treats and coffees, as well as an artisan gallery and farm shop where you find a range of gourmet feijoa products. For groups of 10-30 people they also offer a private, amazing organic long lunch with farm tour.

Strawberry Fields

It doesn’t get much fresher than being able to pick something right off the vine yourself! The good news is that you can visit an actual farm and pick your own strawberries from June to November when they are in season. If fresh strawberries aren’t enough, visit the café at Strawberry Fields and indulge in traditional homemade ice-cream, fresh strawberries and cream, choc dipped gourmet strawberries, parfaits and pancakes.

Brouhaha Brewery

Created in 2016 by four beer loving mates, Brouhaha opts for simplicity and purity over additives and preservatives when it comes to their beer philosophy. This philosophy extends to the food menu as well. These guys make it a priority to use local producers when designing the seasonally changing menus, working with Maleny Wagyu, Maleny Food Co., The Falls Farm and Good Harvest Organics to use only the best locally-sourced produce from the Maleny and surrounding Sunshine Coast Hinterland Regions. Wash it all down with a sample of brews on their tasting paddle.
