The Roy
The Roy, a 24-room revamped coastal stay in the heart of Rainbow Beach, Queensland. Reimagining the former 1990s built Rainbow Sands Resort, The Roy has been reworked from the bones up, pairing nostalgic architecture with a laid-back, boardies-and-sandy-feet approach to hospitality where the weather and winds dictate your coastal agenda. The hotel sits at the start of the main street, a short walk from both town and beach, and is positioned as a base camp for travellers heading to K'gari (formerly Fraser Island) or Double Island Point - regularly ranked Australia's longest surfing wave. Set over three levels of the original building and overlooking a new resort-style pool and garden, The Roy's two dozen rooms are split across king rooms for couples and solo travellers, holiday units with kitchen and living areas for longer stay and family units with bunks for the kids.
