Because of Nambour’s perfectly central location, there are so many roads to explore and discover.  We took a recent tour to some of our favourite spots for a sunday drive on any day of the week.

The perfect place to start and finish your journey? Nambour of course!  Central and surrounded by some of the best scenic drives in Queensland, it boasts natural beauty and great cafes to pull in for a bite with friends.  Whether you have a couple of hours, a full day or a weekend, you can choose from a number of different roads and loops, all with breathtaking hinterland views and variety for all levels of experience.

If you want to make a full day of it, The Nambour - Imbil - Traveston - Cooran - Pomona - Cooroy - Eumundi - Nambour loop is a 142km loop of stunning scenery for the adventurous.  Check out the map here to plan out your day.

If you prefer something a little closer to town, then the ride up to Dulong Lookout above Nambour will not disappoint you.  With views of the entire coastline, this is an amazing spot to take a breather or have a picnic for the morning before you set off on another drive.

Whether you are driving in from the coast or the hinterland, Nambour is the place you will find it easiest to pull in for a day.  A town accustomed to the weary traveller, it is more welcoming to motorists than most and has some truly unique things to see.

Undoubtedly one of the quirkiest places to pull-in on the Sunshine Coast is Rick’s Garage & Diner in Palmwoods.  Just outside of Nambour, Rick’s is the quintessential rock n roll diner and a “must do” if you are on the road and have worked up a serious appetite.
