Sunshine Coast Ocean Regatta also known as SCOR

18 Jul - 19 Jul
The Sunshine Coast Ocean Regatta (SCOR 2020) on the weekend of 18 and 19 July will be the highlight event for yacht racing in southeast Queensland in 2020. The regatta, conducted by the Sunshine Coast Yacht Club, is designed to showcase the beautiful coastal yachting environment and marina facilities available on the Sunshine Coast. The regatta will attract mono hull and multi hull yachts competing in short and long course races under the direction of an internationally renowned professional race officer. Interest is already strong in both SCOR 2020 and its “feeder” race: Brisbane to Sunshine Coast yacht race (B2SC 2020). Alexander Headland and Point Cartwright and all the Mooloolaba ocean view apartments will be the best on-shore viewing points. SCOR was run from 1970’s until the 1990’s with up to 60 yachts participating. The race was reintroduced by the Sunshine Coast Yacht Club in 2014 and is in a rebuilding phase. It has grown in both numbers and reputation. SCOR 2019 attracted 16 yachts from Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne and the Sunshine Coast. Over 100 skippers and crew on were involved last year plus some 20 volunteers and 50 supporters.
