Caloundra Regional Gallery in collaboration with Sunshine Coast Libraries proudly presents the next exhibition for the Maroochydore Library Artspace. Join them for the launch on Friday 9 February at 9.30am. This is a free event, enjoy complimentary nibbles and meet the artist! Toni Rea is an Australian artist who works from a studio in the Sunshine Coast Hinterlands. This series was inspired by driving through the Glasshouse Mountains (or the Daki as named by the Gubbi Gubbi people). In contrast to traditional landscape painting, where artists generally concentrate on a single visage and moment in time, Tonis paintings explore a mobile vision of fluid landscapes in motion. Toni Rea has been working from her studio on the Sunshine Coast since 2013. From 1976 to 2012 she taught Visual Arts in state high schools, with the last 25 years as Head of Department The Arts. Rea graduated with a Bachelor of Education from QUT Brisbane. She then completed a Master of Philosophy through Creative Practice in 2017 at QUT. For that body of research, she was short-listed for the QUT Dorothy Birt Prize. Exhibition available to view during library open hours. This exhibition is located in a shared space access unavailable during events.
