Noosa Pengari Children's Festival

Held each August in the Noosa hinterland, the Noosa Pengari Children's Festival is a free family day of craft, music and outdoor play on the grounds of a Steiner school at Doonan, about 20 minutes' drive inland from Noosa Heads. In 2026 the festival marks the school's 30th anniversary with an expanded program. Younger children can join a gem hunt, float handmade nature boats down the river run, dip beeswax candles, make nature garlands and try tie-dye. Older kids will find a low ropes course, rock-climbing wall, giant slide and mega obstacle course, alongside pony rides, a petting zoo and a merry-go-round. Live music runs all day, building to a travelling headline band in the afternoon, with a student-run open mic and a sound immersion space of school choirs and crystal singing bowls in the auditorium. There is a mini market of local makers, a plant stall, pre-loved clothing and books, and locally sourced food including the festival's well-known cake house. Entry is free. Tickets are needed for craft stalls and rides, available online in advance or on the day.
