Nature escapes on the Sunshine Coast don’t just mean sand and surf. From rolling paddocks fringed by mountain views to riverside camping spots set up for some serious stargazing, you’ll find no shortage of ways to rejuvenate right here in our backyard.
Let’s dive in!
Relax in nature in Nambour

Magnesium pools at Sixty6 Acres, Woombye, Sunshine Coast
If you fancy a taste of luxury with your farm stay experience, Sixty6 Acres is a must-visit. Located in Woombye, just outside of Nambour, Sixty6 Acres sits within easy driving distance of both the broader Hinterland and coastline. Bring along your caravan and set up camp at one of their powered sites, or book their self-contained accommodation, which come kitted out with cosy fireplaces and fully equipped kitchens. Keep the relaxation going with a dip in their outdoor magnesium pools or head over to The Farmhouse Restaurant & Bar, where you’ll find plenty of local produce on the menu. Kids don’t miss out, either, with plenty of opportunities to say g’day to farm animals and paddle on the farm lake.

Walking through Koala Park, Nambour, Sunshine Coast
When you’re not relaxing poolside, pack a picnic and take a stroll through Koala Park: a hidden gem located only a short drive from the Nambour CBD. The full recreation loop is a manageable 1.2km if you fancy a stroll, while a playground and barbeque facilities can also be found onsite – perfect for grilling up a spread for lunch. Whether you’re in the mood to enjoy a leisurely lunch surrounded by lush bushland or to hit the trails on a run, there’s plenty to suit every kind of zen chaser. The whistling of the birds in the treetops will fast become your new favourite soundtrack.
Discover the Glass House Mountains

Seven Peaks Farm Stay, Glass House Mountains, Sunshine Coast Hinterland
And... exhale. Mountain vistas, grazing cows and spacious accommodation combine at Seven Peaks Farm Stay in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. One of the biggest treats here is the view from the deck of your cabin: simply stroll out of your room to catch a glimpse of our ancient Glass House Mountains peeking over the treetops. With an outdoor spa bath (Honeymoon Cabin), fireplaces, and plenty of windows to soak up the sights, we know you’ll find it hard to leave. When it’s time to stretch your legs, take a drive (less than 20 minutes) to the spectacular Glass House Mountain Lookout, or tackle the trail at the nearby Mount Ngungun.
Immerse yourself in Kenilworth

Camping at Kenilworth Homestead, Sunshine Coast Hinterland
For a quintessential country camping experience with plenty of gorgeous natural beauty to boot, you’ll find plenty to love at Kenilworth Homestead. This is the place to kick back by the Mary River, hot drink in hand, as the crisp morning air settles over the surrounding paddocks. Magic. Adding to the fun, if you hop in the car to take a drive, legendary places like Booloumba Creek (see below) and Kenilworth Bakery aren’t too far away, setting you up perfectly for plenty of Hinterland adventures.
A swimming spot with turquoise water? Say less. With its tropical vibes and abundant wildlife, Booloumba Creek knows how to make a splash. Take a dip in the clear pools here before relaxing along the bank with a book in hand. If you think a day won’t be enough to make the most of this place (we don’t blame you!), you can check out the Booloumba Creek camping options here.
Good to know: there are a couple of creek crossings you’ll need to go through to reach some of the best spots, so a 4WD is required for access. If you’d rather let someone else take the wheel, check out the Hinterland Adventure tour by Sunny Jeeps.
