Horizon Festival is the Sunshine Coast's leading contemporary multi-arts festival, presenting 10 days and nights of visual art, music, theatre, dance, words + ideas, film and workshops. The 2021 Festival runs from Friday 27 August - Sunday 5 September. The Wonderland Spiegeltent will take centre-stage overlooking the water at Cotton Tree Park, bringing with it a program of world-class cabaret, comedy, circus, dance and theatre, including the adults-only Club Briefs by Briefs Factory International, stand-up comedy Black Out featuring Ydinji comedian Steph Tisdell and friends, and Circus Wonderland - A Mermaids Tale, a heart-warming circus show for the whole family. The all-Queensland line-up offers local audiences and visitors to the Coast the chance to experience a high-quality artistic program, set against the spectacular backdrop of the region. The natural environment and issues such as climate change feature throughout the program, with many projects inspired by, and set within, this regions very special landscape including Lake Baroon, Glass House Mountains, Chambers Island and Happy Valley. Deeply connected to the Country and community, local Kabi Kabi (Gubbi Gubbi) and Jinibara artists are central to this years festival. The First Nations program includes the much-celebrated ceremonial performance, Dawn Awakening, at Stumers Creek on Sunday 5 September, large-scale outdoor visual arts projections, Kabi Kabi Connections, and an array of rich cultural offerings throughout the region.
