First settled in 1887, Montville has grown into a thriving shopping village with a wonderful array of cafes and restaurants, gift shops and fashion boutiques.

Montville is also the creative soul of the Hinterland. It’s here that you’ll find a myriad of art galleries, pottery studios and craft cottages displaying the work of talented local creatives.

Many of the galleries, such as Montville Art Gallery, are located in the main street, where quaint European architecture is offset by spectacular views to the coastline.

While browsing the boutiques, make sure to stop in for a craft beer at Wild Rocket @ Misty’s Micro Brewery, or stock up on sweet treats at Chocolate Country Montville.

Beyond the shopping strip prepare to wine, and dine at The Long Apron at Spicers Clovelly Estate or Flame Hill Vineyard which produces 100% estate grown wines and dining options overlooking the vineyard.

If you’re looking to get back in touch with nature, a short drive from Montville village will take you to Kondallilla National Park.

Kondalilla, an Aboriginal word meaning 'rushing waters', describes this park's waterfall during the summer wet season, where Skene Creek drops 90m into a rainforest valley.

A refuge for many species of native animals and plants, Kondalilla National Park is a popular place for birdwatchers, nature photographers and bushwalkers. Relax in the day-use area which is ideal for picnics and can be reached on an easy 1.7 kilometre Picnic Creek circuit, or for more of a challenge, take on the 4.6 kilometre Kondalilla Falls circuit or a section of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk.

Finish the day at one of Montville’s luxury lodges or relaxed rainforest retreats. You’re spoiled for choice, with a number of beautifully appointed boutique accommodation providers available to suit all tastes and budgets.
