Food so good it speaks for itself

‘Exceptional local produce that does all the talking’ is the culinary philosophy of Warrior Restaurant & Bar’s Head Chef. Opened in early 2023 at the Irwin family’s famed Crocodile Hunter Lodge, the restaurant’s menu concentrates on using produce handpicked from its surrounding Sunshine Coast farms and suppliers.

Drawing influence for the seasonal menu from the native plant life, the handcrafted menu and curated cocktails pay homage to our First Nations people who have utilised our lands for thousands of years. The seasonality of the menu ensures that every piece of produce, and menu item, is at its natural, most flavoursome peak. The culmination of this paddock-to-plate dining in a premium setting, as well as its interconnection with Australia Zoo, is just part of what makes this such a unique dining destination on the Sunshine Coast.

The tantalising first act

While the food may be the star of the show, the signature cocktails are a delightful opening act. Watch on as Warrior’s expert mixologists combine local spirits and fruits with plenty of theatre to kick start the show.

If something more traditional is your style, there’s also a selection of local craft beers and an extensive Australian wine list to relax with on the outdoor terrace overlooking the resident red kangaroos, emus and snoozing koalas.

A story of significance

A creation of the Irwin family, Warrior Restaurant & Bar draws its name from the non-profit conservationist organisation Wildlife Warriors, which was founded by Steve and Terri Irwin in 2002.

To this day, the following handwritten quote hangs in Steve’s office: “Ones who are engaged or experienced in battle – Warriors". Importantly, Warrior Restaurant & Bar delivers on the family vision to showcase native flavours and the freshest Aussie produce amongst beautiful natural surroundings.

From the compacted earth walls to the reclaimed wood of the building, you’ll quickly discover that Steve Irwin’s legacy sings through every element of this spectacular dining experience.
