Family walking at Mooloolaba beach

We’ve put together an exciting, action-packed itinerary full of delicious food recommendations and aquatic-inspired adventures, so you can experience the best Mooloolaba has to offer in just one day.

Good morning Sunshine!

Time to fill up those hungry tummies!

Option 1:

Our tip is to head over to the Acai Brothers on River Esplanade and start the day with a bowl of rainbow-coloured superfood WOW. No need to bribe the kids to eat their fruit at this place - they’ll be bursting to try breakfasts, smoothies and juices with names like ‘The Incredible Hulk’, ‘Gladiator’, ‘Salted Caramel’ and ‘Peanut Butter Nutter’!

Option 2:

Local’s fave, The Velo Project, is an eclectic, retro-styled café hidden just off the main strip. This place is serving up heaven on a takeaway plate, showcasing fresh food sourced from local farmers and producers. Possibly the BEST crepes on the coast served up with the really good stuff like Chantilly cream, Nutella fudge, lemon cream cheese, coconut yogurt and cinnamon butterscotch. Grab your crepes and coffee to go and sit and enjoy Mooloolaba Beach for the morning.

Hit the beach!

Mooloolaba beach

Loved by locals and just about all who visit, Mooloolaba Beach is renowned for its golden sand and gentle beach breaks. It’s also one of the safest, family-friendly beaches in the country and is patrolled by lifesavers all year round. Pitch an umbrella, slop on some sunscreen and hit the waves with the kids for some gnarly body board action! Or lead the kids on an expedition to the tidal rock pools just north of Mooloolaba Beach. Who doesn’t love a game of rock hopping or crab spotting?!

Kayak the canals of Mooloolaba

Seen enough of Mooloolaba from the coastline? Make a booking to hire out some kayaks from Sunshine Coast Afloat for a family friendly adventure that’s guaranteed to tire out the kids. Pick a day with little to no wind for a relaxed workout and paddle the clear blue canals, spotting the variety of fish and birdlife that call Mooloolaba home. Jump off at La Balsa beach to stretch out those arms and relax in one of the less known pockets of paradise on the Coast.

Fuel up those growing bodies

By now there’s no doubt you would’ve worked up a seriously big appetite, so when you hit dry land again, head straight to Parkyn Parade where the options for fresh daily caught seafood are endless. Fancy battered snapper with chicken salted chips and tartare with a squeeze of lemon? How about a generous serving of Mooloolaba Prawns with some salt and pepper calamari on the side? Whatever your choice, grab your favourite picnic rug and enjoy the seafood while watching the sky melt from blue, to pink and purple at the end of this family day out.

A sweet treat to finish the day

Ninth Street

Want to reward the kids (or yourself) for conquering such an adventurous day out? Mooloolaba has you covered! Head across the road from the beach to The Wharf Mooloolaba for a sweet fix to get you home. Fior di Latte Gelateria is hard to walk past with turkish and crushed pistachio gelato, and our favourite caramel golden gaytime in a freshly baked waffle cone. However, if you're looking for something extravagant, you can stop into Ninth Street and get a Snickers, Mars or Cherry Ripe loaded brownie for the drive home.
